Ramon Osorio, U.S. Army Aug. 23, 2011 Release # 11-16 Downloadable Media: Adobe PDF release ~ MEDIA ADVISORY ~ Dignitaries to be on hand to commemorate beginning of a new era for JPAC JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii (Aug. 23, 2011) - The Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command will ceremoniously "break ground" on a multi-million dollar facility during a Ground Breaking and Blessing Ceremony at 10 a.m., Aug. 30, near the Kuntz Gate on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam. Senator Daniel Inouye will be among several other dignitaries invited to ceremoniously "break ground" on the site for the new facility that will further enhance the Department of Defense's mission to account for its missing U.S. personnel. Falling directly under the U.S. Pacific Command, JPAC is a jointly-manned organization of more than 400 military and civilian specialists that has, with its predecessor organizations, investigated and recovered missing Americans since the 1970's. The ultimate goal of the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command, and of the agencies involved in returning America's heroes home, is to achieve the fullest possible accounting of Americans lost during the nation's past conflicts.
