Soldier Accounted For From Korean War (Kaniatobe, C.)

WASHINGTON, Sept. 18, 2018 — Army Pvt. Charles G. Kaniatobe, killed during the Korean War, was accounted for on September 13.
In July 1950, Kaniatobe was a member of Company A, 1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 24th Infantry Division, engaged in combat operations the against North Korean People’s Army near Chonui, South Korea. Kaniatobe could not be accounted-for and was declared missing in action on July 10, 1950.
DPAA is grateful to Department of Veterans Affairs for their partnership in this mission.
Interment services are pending; more details will be released 7-10 days prior to scheduled funeral services.
Kaniatobe's name is recorded on the Courts of the Missing at the Punchbowl, along with the others who are missing from the Korean War. A rosette will be placed next to his name to indicate he has been accounted for.
